Elite Program

ELITE – WHAT IS SO SPECIAL? Why is this program part of the Elite Network of Bavaria that is administered by the Bavarian State Ministry of Education, Science and the Arts?

In order to provide excellence in education the predicate “Member of the Elite Network of Bavaria” labels only those institutes, that offer top notch research combined with progressive teaching strategies.

TEACHING We only admit a handful of students per semester in order to guarantee individual training programs and personal support for each student. Our philosophy is to guide the students into self-responsible adsorption of knowledge. Individual and autonomous lab projects as well as regular presentations of achieved work levels contribute to self-governed learning strategies.

REPRESENTATIONAL SKILLS While we put a strong focus on advanced science, there still is another important factor that contributes to success in top level research: representational skills! In order to convincingly bring out results into the community, a solid dose of confidence combined with clever communication strategies is necessary. The ability to engage in team work, exhibit flexibility and show capacity for enthusiasm are equally important cornerstones to success in academic career. Luckily most of those attributes can be trained. Our program will hone those qualities that already lie within you by exposing you to situations where you will be asked to proof those skills.

INDIVIDUAL MENTORING Don’t be scared! We will never leave you alone! Of course we don’t expect you to do magic. Everybody has his or her personal background. We honor individuality. Therefore each single student will get assigned an academic mentor that may be consulted whenever problems should arise. May they be of scientific or personal nature.

INTERNATIONAL INTERNSHIPS Since we believe in synergistic effects of cross national encounters and collaborations, we emphasize the international diversity of our program. Exchanging minds with fellow students and co-scientiests, as well as experiencing live in a new setting, helps to better understand the global challenge in problems of  scientific, economic and social nature. By inviting international students to Regensburg and sending students abroad, we hope to inspire mutual insights that lead to a common ground in scientific relationships.

EARLY NETWORKING @SynCat we are part of a network of about 8.000 members who strive for excellence in research and teaching. You will get the opportunity to meet some like minded fellow students of other disciplines at various events through out the year. From time to time we also invite renowned guest lecturers tailored to our teaching subjects, which after the lectures will be available for your questions and input. Yet another aspect of early networking is covered by your external modules, where you will get to get in touch with some of our extern partners and collaborating universities.

OUR PARTNERS We are always in the process of creating new partnerships. Here are some of our recent collaboration partners.
